English: Soho Cottage in Shildon, County Durham, is the former home of locomotive engineer Timothy Hackworth. He was given the newly built cottage in 1825 for free upon his appointment as the first locomotive superintendant of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, whose works were on the site. He remained there after he stablished his own Soho locomotive works, taking over the S&DR works, until his death in 1850. His widow remained in the house until her death 2 years later, after which the family left Shildon. It was then occupied by William Bouch, the S&DR's new locomotive superintendent. It was later part of the Timothy Hackworth Museum which opened in 1975, before being absorbed into the larger Locomotion railway museum, which opened in 2004, as their 'Haxkworth' exhibit.
